Job Description

Organization: Eastern Ohio P-16 Partnership for Education (DBA Eastern Ohio Education Partnership) is a 501 (c) (3) designed to be the backbone organization that brings sectors of the community together to create a common agenda, share data, and reinforce and strengthen existing education initiatives that help increase student outcomes from preschool through postsecondary education. As the backbone organization, we are charged with being the lead facilitator, community liaison, and organizer; creating and publicizing a progress report, and collecting, analyzing, and aggregating data to assure individual programs are benefiting our students.

EOEP has created a consortium of fifty community leaders that represent education from preschool to postsecondary, business, nonprofit, foundation, and social service agencies. These partners will focus on four critical student areas of transition: preschool to kindergarten (Early Childhood Readiness), 3rd to 4th grade (Early Grade Reading Proficiency), 8th to 9th grade (Middle-Grade Mathematics Proficiency), and high school to postsecondary (Postsecondary/Career Readiness & Access).
Mission: Fostering collaboration to align proven practices that maximize educational outcomes, cradle to career.
Work Schedule: This is a salaried position. Occasional weekend and late evening work will be required. Occasional overnight travel will be required.

Salary: Salary will commensurate with the experience and background of the successful applicant. Retirement benefits and professional development are included. This is a grant-funded position.

Position Description
Development & Communications Manager
• Executes individual business plan to exceed revenue goals specifically related to growth, and develops new income sources, to provide financial sustainability for the organization.
• Develops a database to manage and track giving.
• Responsible for management of full grant portfolio.
• Analyzes and reports giving outcomes.
• Serves as a communications consultant and strategic partner to develop and execute communication plans that are consistent with the organization’s culture and values.
• Develops relationships with business, technology, trade and local media, proactively identifying opportunities for the organizations’ message.
• Monitors business and education news to identify emerging issues and storylines.
• Develops innovative communications campaign that highlights collaboration among Valley education partnerships.
• Creates a variety of storytelling tools such as media pitches, news releases, speeches, presentations and employee messages.
• Develops a database of stories that help to convey the positive impact of collaboration.
• Demonstrates leadership in project and team management.
• Creates, manages, edits, and publishes a progress report each year.
• Creates, manages, and executes a minimum of one special event each year.
• Analyzes and reports communication outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is passionate about raising funds for important work around education and communicating exciting success stories within our community. S/he cares deeply about education and equity. This person is proactive and must consistently work to exceed goals. This person has a lot of energy and enthusiasm, is highly organized and has excellent writing skills and social media experience. S/he can multi-task on a daily basis to meet the needs of working in a busy office environment with a small staff. S/he must be flexible with ever-changing deadlines. The candidate must be comfortable working independently.

Minimum Education, Job Knowledge, and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or related field with 5 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Strong grant writing and research skills.
• Experience in communications analysis.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Microsoft Office proficient.
• WordPress or website experience.
• Social media experience.
• Special events planning and execution.

Education, Job Knowledge and Experience Preferences
• Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, social media or related field with 5 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Photography/Videography experience.
• Adobe Suite skills
